Dr. Basab Mukherjee
A fourth generation gynaecologist, Dr. Basab Mukherjee has literally gynaecology in his blood. He had a brilliant academic career completing his undergraduation and postgraduation from the famous Christian Medical College of Vellore. In 2000, he went to London for higher studies and obtained the MRCOG degree from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

After his return to Kolkata, Dr. Basab Mukherjee, initially worked with his father Dr. Basudeb Mukherjee, a well-known gynaecologist of the city. From 2003 he is a visiting consultant at Calcutta Medical Research Institute and Anandalok Hospital, Salt Lake. Over the years, he has earned a name in the academic circuits being an active member of Bengal Obs-Gyn Society, Royal College – Eastern Zone Chapter of India and at the National Level – FOGSI. He has several chapters published in books and is a regular speaker at national conferences.

Dr. Basab Mukherjee is also involved in public awareness meetings and often holds medical camps in rural parts of Bengal. He has been trained in Endoscopic surgery, which is what he specializes in. He is a good orator and uses the skills in patient communication giving them choices and helping them to make a decision on treatment options. He has been providing free online consultations for patients from different parts of the world for the last three years.

A third generation gynaecologist, Dr. Basudeb Mukherjee is one of the most respected gynaecologists of the city Kolkata. Ever since his return from the United Kingdom in 1978, he has carved a niche for himself in the arena of obstetrics and gynaecology. His touch has reached thousands and several doctors have been trained under him.

Apart from his pleasant personality, which adds to his charisma, Dr. Basudeb Mukherjee is a well-known face in the Bengali television circuit. He has been involved in acting since childhood and his hobby is today his passion. He has been involved in the small screen for over 20 years.

Dr. Mukherjee has been a Past President of the Bengal Society of Obs-Gyn, Past Rotary President, President of Indian Endoscopic Society and Public Awareness Committee Chairperson of FOGSI. He has been sincere in both spheres of life and is a well recognized public figure today.

Dr. Basudeb Mukherjee believes in change. He is one of the few in his generation to generously adopt the new trends of care emerging in the specialty and providing his patients the benefit.
